Itinerary
Let’s get started!
1st stop Koulouri, Pites and… Loukoumades
While strolling around the Historical City Center, we are going to taste:
- the famous Koulouri of Psiri,
- various Greek Homemade Pies (Pites)
- and a typical Greek desert, Loukoumades.
2nd stop Varvakeios Agora
We continue with a visit to the biggest, oldest, and most central local food
market of Athens, where you can purchase fresh fish, delicious meats and local
products like nuts and herbs exclusively from Greek producers.
3rd stop Greek coffee in Hovoli
Hovoli is a special way of making Greek coffee. The coffee is brewed slowly so
it gets a better and more intense flavor. Hovoli brewing utilizes charcoal
ashes on top of which there is sand which keeps the fire burning slowly.
4th stop Lunch at Exarcheia Neighborhood
Lastly, we head to the local area of Exarcheia, only about 10 minutes walking
distance from the city center.
Exarcheia is a historical neighborhood where you can admire the diversity of
Greek architectural styles from neoclassical buildings to post-war structures
and modern constructions. In Exharcheia, you will discover the real urban
Athenian lifestyle, preferred by many artists, students, and locals.
There are a variety of alternative bars, coffee shops and restaurants where you
can find cuisines from all over the world.
Together we will visit a traditional tavern, which is located in a beautiful,
neoclassical building. There we will taste traditional delicacies and Greek
house wine or Raki
(a liqueur from the island of Crete).
Final stop-End of the tour
After lunch, we will make a stop to taste Baklava, the most traditional turkish
desert adopted widely by the Greek cuisine.
We end our food tour heading to Omonoia square which is the second biggest
square of the city.
Lunch: Together we will visit a traditional tavern, which is located in a beautiful, neoclassical building. There we will taste traditional delicacies
Alcoholic Beverages: Greek house wine or Raki (a liqueur from the island of Crete). We kindly specify that the minimum age of alcohol consumption is 18 years old.
Coffee and/or Tea: Greek coffee in Hovoli, Hovoli is a special way of making Greek coffee. The coffee is brewed slowly so it gets a better and more intense flavor.
Soda/Pop: For children we offer a glass of refreshment of their choice
Snacks: The famous Koulouri of Psiri, various Greek Homemade Pies (Pites) and a typical Greek desert, Loukoumades & Baklava, the most traditional turkish desert adopted widely by the Greek cuisine.
